any review process is done for the sole purpose of creating a feedback loop to enable learning over time.
therefore, the shorter you can create the loop (without 'overfitting'), the rate at which you learn will also increase, as an inevitable consequence.
so, if you are one of those people who wait until the last week of the year to see where you stand and make your 'big' changes—
your logic is deeply flawed—and it is only a matter of time before you fall behind people who prioritize shortening this loop efficiently.
and its all because (unlike you) those people are willing to go against consensus when consensus thinking is clearly wrong.
